The majestic pelican. Feared enemy of the fish and freshly washed cars. This air carrier of a bird soars high overhead in search of your hard earned fish and chips – unless you use tomato sauce (yuck!).

Originally created for our Gimbay Gatigaan performance (March 2022), the Pelican was made in collaboration with Newcastle elder Auntie Debbie, to whom the Pelican is a sacred symbol. In Auntie Debbie’s words, our Pelican represents ‘black man and white man as one’.
